Railroad View:  Excellent.  Any room on the rear of the hotel should provide a view of the railroad.  Higher rooms have a preferred view.  Trains do not blow their horns in Cumberland; they can sneak you while you’re in the hotel.  CSX stations helper locomotives at Baltimore Street, to the west side of the hotel.

Railroads past Hotel:  CSX / Amtrak (Capitol, daily service).  The former B&O Mainline host nearly 40 trains during a 24-hour period.

Notes:  Amtrak station is located outside the rear of the hotel (walking distance).  Across town is the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, it’s worth a ride.  Also, the CSX Cumberland Locomotive shop is about 10-minutes away.  The shops are viewable from public property, as well as the deadline of stored locomotives.  Just keep off CSX property.  The unstaffed Amtrak station seems to be a fine place to watch trains.

Comments:  Former Holiday Inn, re-branded January 2014 to Ramada.   Hotel is pricier then I think it should be (my opinion), but it’s a great spot to watch trains.  It is a nice, well kept hotel.
