Railroad View:  Expect a Poor View of the railroad due to trees and brush between the hotel and the railroad.  If looking for a railfan motel in the St. Louis area, look at others listed on the St. Louis page.  This hotel is fine if you have business in the Chesterfield area, but the view and train traffic is poor here.  The other hotels in the St. Louis area offer much better views, and plenty of trains.

Railroads past Hotel: Central Midland Railroad, a shortline railroad owned by Progress Rail.  This is former Rock Island Railroad line.  The CMR only uses the line as far west as Union, MO.  There is a business behind the hotel that uses rail.  Expect no more then one round trip per day on this line.  The CMR uses typically SW-1500 type locomotives on their short freight trains.

Photo Comment: A view looking west from I-64 the single track Central Midland Railroad is seen.  The building with the green roof is the Hilton Garden Inn.  The trees in the photo block most of the railroad view, almost enough so - that it was a hard decision to list this hotel on this web site.  Other hotels in the St. Louis area that we list have much better views, and a lot more trains!
