Railroad View: Excellent View. Clear view of the railroad tracks across the street. However, train frequency is very poor, if any on a daily bases. The small yard across the street may see strings of stored freight cars at times. Although this motel will not offer trains around the clock, its centrally located in the heart of Buffalo's most active railroad scenes, and is a good choice of lodging while railfanning the Buffalo area. There are not other railfan motels in the Buffalo area.
Railroads past Hotel: Buffalo Southern Railroad (?). Across from the motel is a small remains of a once larger train yard. Bethlehem Steel's Lackawanna Works was also once located in this area. The line past the motel leads north to a couple of freight customers. In an aerial photo on the internet, a green Buffalo Southern locomotive is seen just past the motel. I have had difficulty retrieving the proper name for this train yard and the former owner.
Notes: This is the only railfan motel in the Buffalo, NY area.
Comments: This motel has not been rated by RailfanMotels.comPhoto Comment: The aerial view shows the brand new Best Western motel to the right. Across Route 5 is the small 5-track railroad yard mostly used to store cars. Although a through track is always open to run through the yard and access two customers located north of the motel.
