Railroad View: Good View of Enola Yard from 2nd floor rooms on the front of the building.  My visit during the summer, brush & tree's were not a big issue.  I expect a fall and winter view is be even better.  Binoculars or zoom lens can help you see what's going on at Enola's locomotive shops.  Rooms on the front of the building are even numbered, best rooms for a railroad view are: 200, 202, 204, 206, 208, 210, 214, 216.  I was in room # 208 which was great (2 Queen beds).  First floor rooms will also offer a railroad view, but automobiles in the parking lot may block some of most of the view.   At night, there is enough light to see the trains, again, binoculars will help you read engine numbers at night. Room windows do open all the way, with a screen for protection.

Railroads past Hotel: Norfolk Southern.  Motel overlooks NS's Enola Yard, activity is almost constant.  Noise is not an issue, once in a while you will hear a distant train horn, or the distant squealing of cars going over the hump.  I did have the window open during my stay.  Not sure if you would hear any nose if the window was closed.

Notes:    This motel doesn't have an elevator.  Nearby Restaurants include: McDonald's, a Mini-Mart, and a short drive to Wendy's.

Radio Frequencies:  161.445 Enola Yard / 160.980 Harrisburg Terminal.

Comments:   When planning a railfanning trip in Harrisburg area.  This Enola Quality Inn is great place to stay (As well as the Bridgeview Inn in Marysville).  For railfans, the north end of Enola Yard has the Belle Vista Drive "Railfan bridge", this bridge was built with photo portals built into the fencing, and has become a popular location for railfan watching trains entering, departing and switching Enola Yard.  The next town north is Marysville, PA which has a park which is great for watching trains passing over the famous Rockville Bridge.  About an hour west of Enola is Lewistown, PA which is another popular location for train watching from the historic PRR / Amtrak station.  Across the river from Enola is Harrisburg, PA and home to HARRIS TOWER, a fully restored railroad tower located on the northside of Amtrak's Harrisburg station.  A visit to the tower can also treat you to the standard parade of Amtrak and Norfolk Southern trains.  Visit the Harris Tower web site for details on visiting.

Photo Comments: Below Left: The view from Room # 208 was great.  The second floor rooms keep you above automobiles in the parking lot.  The motel is situated on a hill which helps you get a better view of the railroad.  Railroad action is constant, even on Labor Day which was the day I took this photo.  Below Right:  This aerial photo faces eastward.  Rooms on the front of the motel are needed for a railroad view (Even rooms numbers are the front).  Across the street from the motel is a used car lot, I was able to use it to get a quick shot of some stored HLCX SD60's that were just out of view from the motel.
