About Hotel: 7-Stories, 113-Rooms, Interior Corridors, Elegant atrium lobby, Covered outdoor Veranda (good place to watch trains), Smoke Free, High-speed wireless Internet access in all guest rooms, High-definition flat screen televisions, Ergonomic Herman Miller Aeron work chair, Cordless, dual-line telephone, Voicemail and data port, Coffeemaker with coffee, Complimentary weekday newspaper, Concierge service, Full-service business center, Room service, Valet and dry cleaning service, Valet and Self Parking available (fee),  the hotel restaurant - "Prime 108" creates a dining experience as unique as the elegant surroundings.

Railroad View:  Excellent.  Trains can be seen well from 3 of the 4 sides of the building.  Higher floors would be best, railroad side would be preferred.  Trains pass often.  CSX's Kayne Avenue tower is located along the hotels parking lot which was once the "Train Shed" (platform & station track area).  It doesn't take too much imagination to see how the platforms were laid out since the platform concrete is still visible, platform track areas were filled in with new concrete creating a parking lot.  Many trains stop at Kayne Avenue tower to change crews.  Local trains usually use EMD end cab switchers (SW-1500's), some of which are tied up outside hotel in between assignments.

Railroads past Hotel:  CSX

Notes:  The hotel is beautiful, guest rooms have 18' high ceilings creating a unique experience.  Trains pass by slowly, they are quiet enough not wake you even though the closest track is only about 25 feet from the building.  Photos from the hotel window are excellent.  You can improve on photos (and video) by watching trains from the outdoor covered Veranda.  It gets you up close to the action, also provides a view down the track in both directions. This is the ideal hotel to stay at if in the Nashville area.

Photo Comments:  This aerial view looks eastward.  Clarion is the light colored building to the left of the picture.  Double track line becomes single track just west of here.  I'm not sure of the train frequency on this line, though I can say it's one of the busier lines in Nashville.

Photo Comment:  The Red Roof Inn is the building with the _____ roof!  Fill in the blank!  Railroad wise, looks are deceiving.  In the photo you see two seperate rail line (single track closest to the motel, then a double track main).  Just out of the picture is the south end of the large CSX Radnor Yard, a busy hump yard in Nashville.  Binoculars or a zoom lens would be best to take in all the action.
