Railroad View: Good View from Suite Rooms 200, 202, 204, and 206. These rooms on the front of the motel are best. Rooms 208 & 210 will not have a view since the roof of the main entrance blocks the windows on those 2 rooms. West side rooms are not good for train watching. These are the standard rooms. If you get a standard room, ask for room # 212, 214, 216, 218 (and up in that order), of these # 212 will offer the best railroad view. 1st Floor rooms do not offer a railroad view.
Railroads past Hotel: Norfolk Southern Railway (former Central of Georgia). This is a busy industrial line. Not sure how many trains use the line during 24-hours. During my stay I only caught one train past the hotel, it was a double stack train coming from the Port of Savannah.
Notes: During my stay, the hotel was unable to give me a room with a railroad view. I got stuck as far from the tracks as they could put me. I did have a special request on the reservation, but they said they could do not to honor it. Only the suites overlook the railroad. They would not let me upgrade to a suite either. I was not happy since I went out of my way to stay here.
Comments:
Floor Plan: Go for a suite; rooms 200, 202, 204, 206 (all Suites) will offer the best railroad views. Rooms 208 & 210 will not have a view since the roof of the main entrance blocks the windows on those 2 rooms. Best standard rooms with a railroad view start at room # 212, 214, 216, 218 and up (in that order), the higher the number the worse the view will be.
Photo Comment: Center photo looks east out a hallway window on the second floor. A double stack train can be seen behind the trees. This was the best view I could get of the only passing train during my stay.
Street View: Looking northwest down Route 25 (Main Street), the Baymont Inn can be seen to the left, and the railroad along Main Street to the right. Bush & trees prevent a clear view for photography, but seeing passing trains is no problem.
