Railroad View: Excellent View. Most rooms in the hotel will offer a railroad view. Higher floor rooms on the railroad end (south end) of the building should be the best
Railroads past Hotel: Canadian National (Former Illinois Central / Chicago Central & Pacific / original Illinois Central). This line is part of CN's Freeport Subdivision. Its best described as the Chicago Central mainline between Chicago, IL and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Several miles east of the hotel is Hawthorne Yard, a small but very active yard. West of the hotel the line connects to the EJE Railroad (now CN as well), then the single track main continues west to Rockford, IL, East Dubuque, Waterloo, and west to Council Bluffs, Iowa. I am not sure of the train frequency past the hotel. I will take a wild guess and say about 10 trains a day use this section of the line per day.
Comments: This motel has not been rated by RailfanMotels.comPhoto Comment: The street image shows the Holiday Inn Express to the right, the railroad bridge over South Mannheim Road is seen straight down the road. Although no rooms face the tracks directly, guests should have a clear view of the railroad.
