Photo Comment:  The aerial picture shows the Harrah's Hotel circled in yellow.  The railroad is marked in red.  The tracks are located in a trench through town, buildings such as the parking garage and the train station structure itself diminishes the railroad view from the hotel.  The positive with this hotel is its a half block from the train station, and you have a chance of seeing trains from your room.

Walking distance to Amtrak's Reno, NV train station.

Location/ Directions:  Take I-80 east to the Keystone exit. Proceed right to Fourth Street. Turn left on Fourth Street to the hotel/casino (corner of Fourth and Arlington).

Average Price (Checked Jan 2012):   $29.00                                 AAA Rated:  n/a        Stars: (n/a)

Railroad View:  Fair to Good View.  High floors will offer a "down-on" view into the Reno Trench railroad right-away.  Trains operate through a below grade trench. Train's may be difficult to see on the track closer to the hotel.  Train's on the south train should be easier to view.  Rooms closer to the railroad would be preferred for a railroad view.

Railroads past Hotel:  Union Pacific / Amtrak.

Photo Comment:  Center Photo: The aerial view shows both buildings of the Sands Hotel.  The double track railroad can be seen along the bottom of the picture, in the trench (along the white wall).  A pedestrian bridge that crosses the tracks outside the hotel may make in interesting view of the railroad, although it is protected by a chain link fence.

Right Photo:  A picture looking east from Ralston Street shows the Sands Hotel as the main building in this picture.  The railroad's Reno Trench can easily be seen from this view.  Sidewalks and overpasses (both street and pedestrian) make watching passing trains convenient in downtown Reno.
