Railroad View: Fair
to Poor View. Railroad is located 2 blocks away from the hotel.
Several 2-story home's and some tree's foul much of the view of the
railroad from the motel. High floors on the south side (street side)
are needed to have a chance of a railroad view. North side room
overlook Lake Erie. The hotel is located alongside Lake Erie! Other then distant train horns, or a scanner tuned into the railroad frequency, heads up on a passing train are not easy. Most trains pass the area at a high rate of speed, and are not easily heard from the hotel.
Railroads past Hotel: CSX / Amtrak. About 40 trains a day use this line. Only 2 Amtrak trains daily pass on this line, while number # 49 is during the night, # 48 passes during daylight in the early morning. This is the former Conrail Chicago Line.
Notes: The hotel charges higher rates for rooms overlooking Lake Erie. Lucky for train buffs, the railroad view is opposite of Lake Erie. While the railroad view is not great, at least you will know what you are missing while at the hotel. The Dunkirk Pier is within walking distance of the hotel and is worth a stop while in Dunkirk. The Dunkirk Pier is a 2-minute drive from the hotel, and parking at the pier is free.
