Railroad View: Summertime = Poor View / Wintertime = Fair View. The railroad is located across the river, which has a good amount of trees along it. On the positive side, the motel is a quick walk to the Amtrak station (located just over a short bridge). The Huntingdon train station is a popular area for railfans to watch trains. Along with the restored train station a former Pennsylvania Rail Road interlocking tower is also restored. About 50 train's a day pass through Huntingdon.
Railroads past Hotel: Norfolk Southern / Amtrak (Pennsylvanian). The railroad is the former Pennsylvania Rail Road mainline, one of the busiest freight lines in the northeast. Night View: You can see the trains at night from the motel, but the light is not enough to video passing trains. You will get an advance warning of approaching trains; they blow horns both east & west of the motel. Horns may wake up light sleepers. The motel windows do not open.
Railroad Radio Frequency: 160.800
Comments: Sheetz Gas / convenient store is a short walk up the road. Sheetz offers a full menu of take out meals.
Photo Comment: Satellite Photo: The Google Satellite picture shows the motel circled in yellow, with the Amtrak train station marked in blue, a short walk across the river puts you track-side at the train station. Floor Plan: Even number rooms face the railroad, be sure to ask for a even numbed room for a railroad view. Below Left Photo: The summertime view is rather poor, but you can at-least see what your missing. This opening in the trees is the only area where you can watch the passing trains. This shot was captured with a zoom lens.
Lower Right Photo: Without a zoom lens, this is what you get, mostly a tree-lined farm. This is the extent of the summertime view, without foliage, the view is much better according to the motel staff. In the future, we intend to visit during the cooler months to check out the winter view from the motel. The great thing about this motel is its a few minute walk track-side which puts you not only at the Amtrak station but a fantastic place to watch the passing trains. The beautifully restored HUNT tower stands near the train station and is the home to the Chamber of Commerce.
Within walking distance of Amtrak's Huntingdon, PA train station.

Railroad View: Poor View. You need a room on the second floor on the front of the motel to have a railroad view. The railroad is across the street behind homes & some tree's. Its not ideal to photograph / video passing train's, but at least you can see what your missing while your not trackside. Additionally, we list the motel because its a clean and well kept property at good price located near popular train watching locations such as Huntingdon, Lewistown, Altoona and the EBT steam tourist railroad.
